Payment Methods: Cash, Cards & Digital Wallets

Payment practices in Lebanon vary depending on the location and type of service, so it is advisable to carry some cash at all times.

• Cash Payments
  Cash is widely used and often required.
  • Taxis and small local shops usually accept cash only, either in US dollars or Lebanese Lira (LBP).
  • Entrance fees to touristic and archaeological sites are typically payable in cash only, and usually in Lebanese Lira.
• Card Payments
  Credit and debit cards are accepted in many shopping malls, hotels, and restaurants, particularly in major cities.
• Digital Wallets
  Digital wallets and contactless payments are still limited and not widely accepted, so they should not be relied upon as a primary payment method.

For convenience, visitors are encouraged to keep a mix of cash and cards to cover all situations during their stay.
